About Me

Hello Fellow Food Enthusiasts:

I have always had a love for cooking and entertaining.  It started early.  As an "Air F0rce brat"  I found that in addition to moving all over the country what seemed like every year, we were ALWAYS having parties.  My mom tells me that from a very young age I would help set the table and help her put things together.  It always seemed that when a party was underway, everyone was happy.

I realize now perhaps I should have taken a different path, I am so envious of those that have gone to culinary school.  Me, I went to law school, and while it has created many great opportunities and adventures for me, I find that I keep coming back to food.

While in law school, I found that everything took sooooo long to resolve itself.  You get one grade at the end of the semester - nine months to wait for the final grade.  Food is quite the opposite.  You can plan a project and execute it - in most cases - very quickly.   I love that about food.  Maybe that's way braising, although it seems too long for many  doesn't seem that long to me.  :)

The best feeling in the world is when you prepare a meal with love and somebody smiles and moans or bangs the table and announces "this is the best think I've ever eaten."   When you can make someone day better through your efforts - that is a good day.

Over the last few years I have put myself through my own brand of culinary school through the internet, cooking shows, cook books and a cooking class here and there.  I am continuously excited about food and the different ways to prepare it as well as the history and family connections that come with food.

I recently learned so much about my father asking him about the German Chocolate cake his Granny Gideon made him for his birthday.  That connection he felt gave me a connection with him.

Hence - a Little Gourmet Everyday was born.  To often we wait for a special occasion to bring our loved ones together when we should try to do it everyday - even if in some small way.  A Little Gourmet Everyday is not just a celebration of  food but the finer things in life which are good friends and family.  I hope you'll come back often to see what's cooking up and how we can all enjoy A Little Gourmet Everyday.

Best wishes for you and yours,

Jennifer
